Welcome back Class of 1982!
First it was the ten year ……………we were all looking around at each other happy that we haven’t changed that much. Most of us still had our hair, fighting off those pounds, there were a few children that had been born and we all relived those fond memories of Havelock High. Now it’s the 2oth……………Most of us still have hair with the occasional gray popping out here and there, those pounds have caught up (what ever happened to that awesome metabolism we all took for granted), more children have been born and we will try to remember, I mean, relive those fond memories again.

Our generation has seen it all haven’t we? Ten years ago we talked about the Gulf War and rise in the economy. Now we are dealing with a far scarier world. A world that has changed all of our lives since the attacks on the US in September. From the terrorist attacks, job layoffs and the media constantly reminding us of how bad the economy is we continue to live our lives with new challenges and obstacles to overcome for ourselves as well as our children.

It’s funny how after we graduated most of us had scattered and moved far away from Havelock. Reasons such as joining the military, marrying and moving away, attending a college that was out of state, a job that required relocating, or just longing for a change in atmosphere. There were even some of our classmates that could not graduate with us, but instead left due to their father or mother relocating.

Now, with the exception of a few, most of us have come back to North Carolina or close to the state and have created a place where our families can settle down and we can focus on our careers and raising our children. I think it’s great! It sure does make it easier to catch up with everyone and prepare for our next reunion.
Hopefully with this website that was set up for our class, we all can continue to share information with each other and share new additions to our families even when the 20th passes by.
So I say to you again “The Class of 1982” it has been 20 years, let’s enjoy reestablishing old relationships and catch up on those we haven’t seen since graduation.

After all, it will be another ten years until we all meet again.

Sincerely,

Michelle White McKoy
Your Class President
