20th
Reunion
Our 20th Reunion was held on
July 20 and 21, 2001 at the Holiday Inn in Havelock.
Friday
Night
Early registration was held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm where we collected our
information packets, reunion glasses, nametags and our
program/directory.
A casual reception was held from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. This included
light hors' doeuvres, ice tea and a cash bar. We also had a
hospitality suite set up with free beer, thanks to Robert
Bright of Woodruff
Distributing. We took this time to get reacquainted with old
friends and to get caught up with each others lives over the past 10
or 20 years. Friday night was just one big party! Everyone
enjoyed themselves into the wee hours of Saturday morning. I
think we were trying to prove to ourselves we could still party all
night long -- and some
of us did!!
Saturday
Morning/Afternoon
On Saturday morning the reunion committee arranged for a tour of the
high school. Even though the school has been added onto over the
years most people felt it seemed small. The halls looked
narrower, the classrooms smaller, even the commons area and gym seemed
small! But, the ram still stands!! There was even an
appearance by Coaches Sasser and Garner.
After that trip back in time, we planned a pool party back at the
Holiday Inn complete with pizza and soft drinks for the family.
We thought this would be a good time for some more catching up, to let
the kids play in pool, catch some rays or just try to recover from
Friday night! By about 3:00 everyone decided it was a good time
for a nap (see, we just
don't recover as well as we did at 18!!)
Saturday
Night
A late registration was held from 5:00 - 6:00 pm for those that didn't
make it on Friday night. We chose to get a little more dressier
with After 5 - Cocktail attire. Our festivities got underway
with cocktails from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
At 6:30 pm we all got together for our class picture. Dinner was
a buffet that consisted of baked chicken, roast beef, salad and more
good stuff. Dessert was provided in the form of a beautiful cake
by Chris Flanagan
of Sweet and Savory Bake Shoppe & Cafe. Table decorations,
flowers and balloons for both nights were provided by Tammy
Lockey-Buck of Rose
Petal Florist.
Our special guests for
the evening were the following teachers: Mrs. Martha Blake, Ms. Flo
Daniels, Mrs. Jan Pearce (our favorite substitute teacher), Mrs.
Georgia Lambert (from junior high) and Mr. Clint Cox (who does a mean
Electric Slide!)
Awards
and thank
you's were handed out after dinner. From 8:30 pm until sometime
early Sunday morning we danced, socialized, hung out and just had
fun...again!! We were even paid a surprise visit from "The
Village People" who sang their hit "YMCA"!
